The previous winners in this category have always come from the same team, but with Scuderia Ecosse stepping up to the international arena in 2007, the sequence that featured Andrew Kirkaldy (twice) and Tim Mullen is broken this season.

The shortlist of nominees here is a very short one, with “fast n’ furious “ Allan Simonsen popping up as the runner-up, after another season of spirited running aboard the CiM Ferrari.

The winner here though is a previous British GT Champion and he scored another victory in emphatic fashion despite just falling short of repeating that feat in 2007. Throughout the year his pace, and his racecraft, was a match for anyone else on track. The fact that he’ll be given the chance in 2008 to test himself in the lions’ den of the ALMS GT2 class in 2008 is as good a vote of confidence as it gets!
